Madison Bailey’s “Raincheck” Is the Sad-Girl Summer Anthem We Needed

Madison Bailey recently dropped her new single “Raincheck” featuring Kairo, and I’ve had it on repeat since it came out last week. the 26-year-old Outerbanks star, made her music debut just last year and is already making her mark.

The first thing that hit me was her voice. It is so rich and full of emotion in a way I didn’t expect. As someone listening to her music for the first time, I was immediately hooked and intoxicated by her tone.

Even though the track is called Raincheck, and the lyrics touch on heavy feelings like faking a smile and feeling like a trainwreck, it doesn’t sound sad. The production is light, and warm and a perfect summer release. It’s one of those songs that makes you want to dance even as it breaks your heart a little, which in my opinion is the best kind of music.

Kairo’s feature was the perfect addition. His voice blends so well with Madison’s, and they have the perfect voices for RnB. The song was very reminiscent of early SZA vibes on the CTRL album. To me, it is a disservice that Madison’s music isn’t getting more attention, between her acting and music you can tell she puts her all into her crafts and in paving her way to being a well known name across the industry.

Listening to Raincheck, I hope it ends up on the next Outerbanks soundtrack. It deserves that spotlight. And I’m excited to see where her music goes next.
