Maude Latour Pens Ode To All-Encompassing Queer Love in Cinematic Single “Miss America”

Living in today’s America is a constant stream of complexity, from fear and anxiety for the future to being fulfilled from reminders of what matters the most. In her new single, “Miss America," pop prophet Maude Latour manages to perfectly capture that range of emotion. From touring every U.S. state throughout her career, Maude has witnessed first hand that despite the diversity of human experience in this country, we all yearn for love and acceptance.

Having just wrapped her first album tour, for her beloved 2024 record Sugar Water, this new offering has divine timing. “Miss America” is a love song, written about the experience of bringing her partner on tour last year. Being queer and traveling through regions of America births a unique perspective, one that shines in this dynamic pop anthem. On top of the overwhelming, all-encompassing nature of falling in love, queer Americans also have to factor in the reality of existing in a country that is becoming rapidly less accepting. Maude Latour pens this epic single from her own perspective, but it’s clearly an anthem for all of her fans to experience together.

Beyond the importance of subject matter, “Miss America” shines Maude’s artistry in a new, exciting light. Her stylized vocal delivery is more addictive than ever as she sings lyrics that are so unique and visceral, they can literally stop you in your tracks. There are great lyrics, and then there are lyrics that are great because they could only be imagined by one artist. Maude Latour is starting to hone in on how special her writing truly is. Lyrics like, “Hand me my rifle / Show me a blue sky / If anyone fucks with us / Baby then bye-bye”, make it clear that Maude is not afraid to be different and it’s only strengthening her perspective with each release.

“Miss America” is already a fan favorite, despite officially releasing today. After previewing the track on Instagram Live, ironically asking fans if they even like it at all, it was immediately screen recorded and embraced. It’s always magical hearing fans sing unreleased music and experiencing “Miss America” live on the Sugar Water Tour was simply magnetic. Maude shares, “It is an honor to witness our power when I play shows and this incredible safe space comes alive— we are everywhere, we are everything. You are everything.”

This is the first release from Maude Latour in 2025 and we can’t wait to see what else this year has in store for our favorite poetic pop princess. Maude is playing All Things Go Festival in NYC and DC this September, so make sure to catch her set. You will be glad you did.
