When did you realise you wanted to pursue music?
It was more of a gradual realisation for me. I wrote my first song when I was 15, and from that moment, I just knew that songwriting was the greatest thing ever. I completely fell in love with it. Over the years, I kept writing more and more, and it took me a while before I realised that this was something I wanted to do as a career. It wasn't an overnight decision; it just became clear to me that music was incredibly important in my life, and I wanted to dedicate my working life to it.
How would you describe your music, and has it changed since you first started?
I’d describe my music as being about telling stories. I feel like my sound is pretty natural, and I always try to stay authentic. My music has definitely evolved over time. The core values have stayed the same, but I’d say I’m better now than I was when I was 15. It’s just a part of growing as an artist.
Who or what has influenced you in your music career?
I have a lot of musical influences. Artists like Ed Sheeran, Sasha Sloan, Alex Sloane, and Lizzy McAlpine come to mind. There are others too, but these are the ones that have really shaped my sound and my approach to songwriting.
Is there anything new coming up that you can tease for your fans?
Yes, definitely! For those who’ve been following me, they know I’m releasing my debut album soon, which is super exciting. My latest single, "Brother," just came out last week. I haven't announced the next song yet, but it’s one I’ve been performing live for a while. I think it’s a track that my fans will really connect with. It’s a bit unexpected and edgy—definitely not what everyone might expect from me. It’s about a real person that people will recognise, and it has a bit of shock value. So, I think fans of my music will know exactly what I mean when they hear it.
What are your goals now and beyond, and do you have any advice for emerging artists like yourself?
My goals are pretty simple—just to get up every day, write the best songs I can, and make my live shows as good as possible. Of course, everyone talks about reaching streams and achieving success, but there’s so much that’s beyond my control. For me, it’s about focusing on the process every day, working to be the best writer and performer I can be.
I’m still learning a lot myself. I’m 21 and have a lot more to figure out, but if I had to give advice, I’d say: if you’re getting up every day and writing the best songs you can, even if it sounds obvious, that’s a really solid place to start. Keep doing the work and stay focused on what you love.
