Meet Me @ The Altar Embrace The Mess On New EP 'WORRIED SICK' [REVIEW] | THE NOISE

Critically acclaimed rock group Meet Me @ The Altar have never shied away from honesty, but on their latest EP WORRIED SICK, their truth hits harder than ever. Across six tracks, co-written and produced by Mike Green, the pop-punk duo confronts seismic changes, personal battles, and the weight of forging ahead in the face of adversity. Instead of dodging these storms, the record sees the band charge straight into them, unleashing the band’s most unfiltered and electrifying music to date.
From the very first note, WORRIED SICK pulses with unrest. Guitars snarl with extra weight, drums pound with restless urgency, and Edith Victoria’s vocals crackle with frustration, vulnerability, and grit. Meet Me @ The Altar shed expectations and gloss, embracing a raw, instinctive sound. It’s a bold return to their easycore roots, with lyrics that wear every scar.
Tracks like record opener “Dead To Me” cut straight to the EP’s emotional core. Fueled by heartbreak and simmering resentment, the song refuses melodrama, opting for raw honesty. The anger is palpable and familiar, echoing the secrets we rarely say aloud. Rather than cloaking pain in metaphor, the band lays it bare, making every note feel intimate and real. “‘Dead To Me’ is about the harsh reality of carrying the weight of hatred,” shares lead vocalist Edith Victoria. “Many people have trouble admitting that this emotion is one that they do indeed feel; of course, there’s lots of shame attached to it, since it’s an emotion people often tell others not to feel. In reality, it’s more alive than ever, so maybe talking about it isn’t so bad.”
The previously released, and my personal fav, “Straight Up (Needy)” dives into emotional chaos with a catchy energy, mixing vulnerability with strong hooks to show the real messiness of wanting comfort while also keeping people at arm's length. Meanwhile, the EP’s closer “Karma” brings in classic pop-punk confidence, proving that even when emotions run high, Meet Me @ The Altar can still deliver a chorus that can inspire anyone to sing, or maybe sometimes scream, along.
WORRIED SICK stands apart not just for its heavier sound, but for its sense of liberation. There’s a restless urgency that comes from the band forging their own path, unburdened by outside expectations. The rough-edged production only adds to the authenticity, letting each song crackle with untamed energy.
At its core, WORRIED SICK is a testament to survival. It captures the anxiety of change, the exhaustion of uncertainty, and the wisdom that emerges from weathering storms. Meet Me @ The Altar never pretends to be flawless pop-punk icons; instead, they reveal their true selves, wounded yet unbreakable. WORRIED SICK proves that growth is rarely tidy. Sometimes it’s noisy, chaotic, and overflowing with feeling, and that’s exactly what makes this EP so damn special.
This January, the duo will head out on an intimate US headline tour in celebration of WORRIED SICK, which kicks off January 23 in Tampa, FL, and hits NYC’s Mercury Lounge on January 31 for a special show before wrapping up in Atlanta, GA on February 6.
