Molly Kate Kestner Is Resilient through Loss & Disappointment with Uplifting "My Way Up"

Molly Kate Kestner originally posted YouTube videos of herself singing for her extended family members to watch, but strangers soon took notice of Kestner's charming personality and powerful voice. After earning recognition from George Takei and Jordin Sparks on "His Daughter," Kestner experienced rapid growth in her following and continued to pursue music full-time. Now an independent artist, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter is back in action with an uplifting new single, "My Way Up."

Along with parting ways with her label and management, 2019 has been a difficult year of loss, disappointment, and stress for Kestner. She transforms this negative energy into the most positive of messages in "My Way Up," which features a soulful sound unlike any other. Co-written by Kestner and her husband Brock Baker, "My Way Up" has Kestner encouraging us to never give up because we will prevail regardless of the obstacles thrown our way.

On "My Way Up," Molly Kate Kestner reflected,

"In the past few months I have parted ways with my label and management. It is the first time I have been an independent artist since 2015. Yowza. That is extremely exciting and incredibly intimidating. But I am SO hopeful. That’s why I wanted this song to be my first release. I co-wrote it with my incredibly talented husband Brock Monroe Baker and he co-produced it with our good friend Bala Mandala. This song is how we all feel right now. Despite our past, our problems and pushback... We are on our way UP. That doesn’t mean there won’t be struggles and stress along the way… But it does mean the best is yet to come. I think once you stop trying to walk in other people’s paths and you find your OWN, that’s when the direction becomes clear."
