nate sib & The Kid LAROI Sync Up For “Face Card” Remix

Just several months following the release of his debut album Reborn, LA-based singer-songwriter nate sib has tapped The Kid LAROI for a remix of the project’s lead single, “Face Card.” The new rendition marks the first official musical meeting between two intergenerational yet parallel acts, as a rumored duo track called “WANTED YOU” has not yet come to fruition.

“Face Card,” an immediate highlight of Reborn along with similarly beat-driven and emotive songs like “Sexiest,” “All I Needed,” and “Too,” borrows aesthetic and contextual points from that of Troye Sivan’s Something To Give Each Other. Utilizing the contemporary trope of analyzing an individual’s ‘face card,’ i.e. likening their attractiveness, or lack thereof, to the social hierarchy and influence of a credit card, sib attempts to woo his subject with the indictment that their face card is, as the kids say, lethal: “Are you my future baby mother? Cause with that face card, you could be my lover.”

sib is joined here by LAROI, an evident influence turned friend and mentor. Now at the tail end of a massive year with the January release of BEFORE I FORGET and the surge of interest in his 2024 tune “Girls” due to its inclusion in episode four of the inaugural season of Amazon’s hit show Off Campus, the eclectic and versatile hitmaker was sure to flex his muscles here: “I’m done, you won/ Don’t mean to stare, but girl, you got me stunned/ Ayy, bring your friends so we can all have fun/ If you’re tryna come, baby, the car’s out front.”

As the recipient of several career-altering remixes and collaborations of his own, LAROI did his due diligence. He wrote in a number of verses to the mix, and can be heard backing sib up on the chorus as well as infusing his signature bursts of energy when appropriate. Of course, sib’s tone and flexibility around the beat remain prevalent. Now, can we get a reissue of LAROI’s “NEVER CAME BACK” with sib on the mic?

After completing a sold-out headline run of tour of his own in the late stages of summer, sib is now back on the road opening for LAROI’s European dates of his A Perfect World Tour. The duo premiered the remix this past weekend at the Manchester Victoria Warehouse, providing fans the opportunity to experience their chemistry for the first time in a live setting.

The official video for the track, a direct visual counterpart to sib’s existing video for the original track, was directed by Sophie-Hall Mochkatel.
