Niko Rubio Continues to Carve Out her Lane With New Single “Ride It”

“Ride It” is the latest release by the bicultural Mexican-Salvadorian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Niko Rubio. Having toured alongside acts like The Two Lips, Role Model, The Marias and Omar Apollo as support, Niko’s own artistry is distinguishable by her stylistic fusion of influences ranging from Mexican Ranchera music to 90s alternative rock and indie pop, all which makes her work a collective tapestry of storytelling that resonates with listeners on another level.

On the heels of the critically acclaimed un millón de besos EP, and her first full offering, Mar y Tierra, “Ride It” is a tale of modern romance inspired by Niko’s own dating experience in Los Angeles. As the track begins, Rubio sets the scene of a date ending shy of a good time. “He don’t know how to leave a good time// He’s got problems he can not hide.” With a lament in the style of a post-hookup clarity that melds the singer’s saccharine delivery into the timeless reggae beat, “Well that’s too bad, too bad // I just wanna ride it.” that solidifies the sultry theme of the single, and displays another facet of Rubio’s diverse storytelling.

Niko Rubio is carving out a lane entirely her own, and with the release of “Ride It” the single is a preview of her latest creative direction. With a headlining tour slated for this spring, there’s no question that 2026will continue to be a breakout chapter for the rising singer-songwriter.
