Parcels Announce Third Studio Album Alongside New Single “Yougotmefeeling”

Australian-born, Berlin based group Parcels is shaking off the blues of April showers with their latest single “Yougotmefeeling.” The new release from the indie-pop quintet examines a relationship that has run its course.

“Yougotmefeeling” dives right into the troubles of the relationship with bassist Noah Hill singing “You got me feeling like I’m uninvited / You got me feeling like I’m just outside / You got me feeling like I won’t even like it.” As the song continues the band digs deeper into the problems with the lyrics “You are better when I am not around / If I always just let you down / Maybe it’s just better if I leave it now, behind.”

Despite the downbeat lyrics, “Yougotmefeeling” is a song that gets you out of your seat and dancing. The song’s groovy, jazzy instrumentation creates an air of acceptance rather than an air of defeat. The relationship is no longer fulfilling either party, and that’s ok. The song’s only dejected moment comes about halfway through the song with the band singing in harmony, “I don’t want to fight it / I don’t want to watch it burn.” This somber moment doesn’t last long, as the band quickly builds the energy back up with drums, guitar, and layered harmonies.

The single’s accompanying live video features Parcels in a brightly lit studio, with green, blue and yellow backdrops. The bright lights and colors match the mood of the song perfectly and emphasize the fact that there is no bad blood at the end of this relationship, only an understanding that the two parties are better apart than together.

Alongside the release of the new single comes the announcement for the group’s third studio album, Loved, set to release on September 12th. Speaking on the album the band shared “It’s very internal for all of us, so personal and so deep, which is sometimes quite uncomfortable. But I guess that’s what Parcels is, at least at the moment, all of us having that individual journey, then trying to make a space so we can funnel everybody’s experience into the same world and express it as a celebration.”
