Pine Barons Pay Homage to Cult Japanese Band Fishmans With   "Night Cruising"

Sometimes you listen to music to remember, sometimes you listen to forget. One of the beautiful things about music is that it possesses the ability to let you escape while at the same time allowing you to deeply  connect   with your thoughts and emotions.

With its dream-like guitars and laid-back vocals, Pine Barons' latest single, "Night Cruising," beckons you to both tune in and tune out. Pine Barons is taking their unique brand of psychedelic dream pop to new heights as they set out to honor the iconic Japanese band Fishmans. With the tribute album I Love Fish set to release later this year, "Night Cruising" gives us a brief taste of what’s in store.

Awestruck by the vibes from Fishmans music of the '80s and '90s and moved by the tragic passing of Fishmans lead singer Shinji Sato, Pine Barons were left feeling a deep connection that they could only express one way. Setting out to bless the masses with a reintroduction, the band tapped a Japanese-speaking friend to translate the original version, allowing them to do a superb job of not just conveying the sounds of the original song but the heart of it as well.

Putting together an album doesn't just happen. It takes a great deal of time and money to craft a project and using those resources on a tribute album speaks volumes in showing how much value and respect Pine Barons is putting on the music of Fishmans. It really speaks to the band's character and how they wish to honor those musicians who paved the way for them. A tribute of this nature is quite an admirable undertaking, giving a second life to music from a band whose career was far too short. Pine Barons does Fishmans justice in celebrating the dream pop genre that the Japanese band first helped pioneer by gifting us this mesmerizing English cover.
