PinkPantheress Delivers a Technicolor Pop Joyride in 'Fancy That'

PinkPantheress has officially released Fancy That, a technicolor pop joyride that proves what we’ve all already known— PinkPantheress is peerless.

Featuring previously released singles “Stateside” and “Tonight,” the nine-track mixtape flies by in just 20 minutes, in true Pantheress fashion. She never overstays her welcome, a psychedelic trip that launches you to the ether and back before you even realize you’re gone. She always manages to condense a fully-realized project in two-minute increments, completing narratives of love and yearning.

“Stars” begs to be vogued to, while “Noises” honors her signature jersey club palette. The closing track “Romeo” feels sweetly reminiscent of a 2004 love song, one that would have gone platinum on a HitClips. Fancy That is the manifesto of a girl who flirts as a primary language, drunk off a crush while lusting after illusion.

It’s palpable how proud the 23-year-old is of this body of work. “This tape marks a huge milestone for me as an artist,” she shares. “This feels like the most tied together project I’ve applied myself to as an artist and for my fans who have been with me for years, I hope they can hear the signs of growth in me as an artist.”

Building an immersive world from her English roots, it’s camp, it’s joyful, it’s nothing like what anyone else is making because she is unlike any other popstar. PinkPantheress preserves her youth in a way that’s still forward-moving and thinking, a woman who knows herself too well to comply with trends. It takes a certain kind of bravery to trust your own originality in the face of a tried and true algorithm, further solidifying PinkPantheress’ superstardom.
