Get ready to be saved. Rebecca Black has blessed our timeline and ears with the announcement of her second album, Salvation, out January 17. In celebration of what's sure to be a top contender for best pop album of 2025, she's released her latest single from the upcoming body of work, "Sugar Water Cyanide."
With infectious production that gives listeners a shot of summer in the middle of these dreary winter months, Black narrates a night out, dancing in the back of the club as the hypnotic bass fills the air. She describes her lover as being as sweet and addictive as sugar but as lethal as cyanide. Unable to ignore the rush that they give her, she rationalizes her situation with the sentiment, "What's pleasure without pain?"
"'Sugar Water Cyanide' is like if my drug of choice were a person," Rebecca reveals, "This is one of those songs that feels as though it's been inside of me my whole life and was waiting for the right day and time to be ready for it to pour out. I wanted to make THAT song you could only really hear on 100% volume in your car or busting through the bass in the club."
The accompanying music video follows the singer-songwriter and friends as they embark on a road trip through the desert. The chaotic yet free visual includes footage of them dancing on top of cars and getting up to some classic mischief intercut with video game clips and nostalgic drug PSA ads.
The seven-track record follows her debut album, Let Her Burn, and features recent single "TRUST!" alongside five other new songs, including "American Doll," "Tears In My Pocket," "Do You Even Think About Me?," and "Twist The Knife."
