Remy Bond Channels Old Hollywood Into Aesthetic Pop with "Simple Girl"

If you built a machine to combine artists, put in Lana Del Rey and Sabrina Carpenter, Remy Bond is what would pop out. With her blue eyes, big blonde hair, and Old Hollywood Americana vibe, Bond has crafted a vision for herself and consistently delivers.

“Simple Girl” marks Bond’s first release of 2025. With her sweet, sultry voice, it’d be easy to mistake “Simple Girl” as a sticky love song, but it’s anything but. The first verse of the song draws the listener in with Bond singing “Hey little sinner / I hope your god is good.” Bond’s voice is smooth and seductive, even as she insults her lover telling him “Our routine is old / But sometimes old can be good / But you fucked it up / Just like I knew you always would.” In the chorus Bond shows off her soprano vocals singing “We don’t have anything in common / They say it’s all in my head / But I’m already gone / I’m a simple girl / I like gardening and drugs / I don’t really care about breaking his heart.”

Sonically, the single is bright, opening with layered strings before plinking piano chords and electric guitar take over. Drums join the fray halfway through the verse, and layered vocals come in during the pre-chorus, all building to a big and bold chorus.

We are entering an era of pop girlies with thoughtful, fleshed out aesthetics: Chappell Roan and her iconic clown inspired makeup, Sabrina Carpenter and her platform boots and babydoll dresses, Olivia Rodrigo and shades of purple. Remy Bond fits right into this category and it’s only a matter of time before she and her aesthetic are recognized among the other pop greats.
