Self Produced Pop Sensation Lyric is in Charge of her Own Narrative.

After a massive year in 2025 that started off with the launch of the single ‘Friends’ and a tour to the UK, and ended with

“The Falling Fast tour”, her biggest headline tour yet which included her first touring festival slot at Spilt Milk - Lyric has become one of Australia’s most exciting voices in pop. Growing up on the Gold Coast, she has had a passion for music her whole life, which it turns out was destined. Unbeknownst to her or her parents at the time, her name hinted at her future. As she explains:

“Well, my name is my real name - Lyric, I was sort of - I don't know, I guess I was just born to do this, I suppose. My parents knew something I didn’t when they named me lyric”.

She started releasing music in 2021 while still attending high school. However, it wasn’t until 2024 when she started focusing on her career. Everything changed when she posted her song ‘Gravity’ on Tiktok. The track took off, surpassing one million streams in November 2025. Alongside her own headline shows, she’s supported pop acts including Griff, Beth McCarthy and Australia’s own Mallrat. As a long-time fangirl herself of artists like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, building her own dedicated fan base has been a truly meaningful full-circle moment:

“My favourite part about performing live is like, connecting with the fans, like being able to actually meet them and see them, sing the songs with them and see how excited they get over all of the words that I’m singing. It’s really, really sweet”.

Last year, she also ticked off a major bucket-list item by stepping into Triple J’s iconic Like a Version studio. There she performed her own hit ‘Make a Move’ and covered what is undoubtedly one of the most heartbreakingly nostalgic coming-of-age anthems of the last decade or so: Lorde’s ‘Ribs’.

A formidable writer and a self-taught producer, Lyric is in charge of her own narrative, capturing the clumsy uncertainty that is navigating young love, both lyrically and sonically. Her sophomore EP ‘The Art of Falling First’ does just that - offering an honest, unfiltered exploration of her own longing and vulnerability. The title track sets the tone for the project, unabashedly sharing her experience of ‘falling first’ and the rollercoaster of emotions this entails - a theme which weaves through every track.

The melancholic ballad ‘Friends’ feels like longingly staring at someone across a lonely dancefloor, and in feeling is reminiscent of Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade Into You’ or Chappell Roan’s ‘Picture You’. It's an emotional track that sees its protagonist hesitant to confess their feelings to a friend, and in composition and production is a true testament to Lyric’s talent at both.

“I produce all of my own songs. Every song i've sort of developed more and more skills. I think you can really hear the difference between the music I make now and the music I made back then”.

As a fully self-produced artist, Lyric represents a new wave of young Australian musicians taking creative control. With an increasing momentum building around homegrown pop, she’s not just part of the scene, she’s helping define it. After a strong run in 2025, all signs point to this year being her biggest one yet.
