Teens In Trouble Wanna Know What You're Listening To On "Playlist" | THE NOISE

Raleigh, NC- based indie punk band Teens In Trouble continue to seamlessly blend the sounds of punk, garage, and dream-pop on their latest single, "Playlist." Fronted by singer/songwriter Lizzie Killian, the track is a sun-dappled, high-energy effort that highlights the band's ability to create achingly relatable music that still makes listeners want to get up and open the pit.

Opening with a collage of angsty guitar riffs, thrumming bass lines, and driving percussion, Killian's unique and addictive vocals suggest that a love interest makes a playlist that tells their life story. She confessionally croons, "I wanna know the songs that make you cry/ And I wanna know the songs that makes you think of her/ What you put on when you are high," reasoning that "if this is how to be close to you/ I wanna know what you're listening to."

"It's awesome how different songs can mean something to different people at different points in their lives," Lizzie says of the track. "I love putting together playlists to fit a mood or bookmark a time and place in my life, and I love when friends share playlists with me. It feels like a window into their life."

The accompanying music video for the track, produced by Lizzie and edited by Ajapopfilms, is a simple yet wholesome visual that features footage of Lizzie, Mike Park, Bailey Moses of Desert Mambas, Jake Margo of Sweet Gloom, Lucy Giles of Dog Party, and more showing off their beloved record collections. The cameo-filled visual is fun and invites listeners to take a nostalgic tour of the music that matters most to them.

The single will be featured on the band's upcoming debut album, What's Mine, out March 29. Teaming up in the studio with producer and multi-instrumentalist Randy Moore, heavy hitters Henry Chadwick on drums, and Jeff Rosenstock lead guitarist Mike Huguenor, Teens In Trouble laid down ten tracks of spiraling guitars, hard-driving drums, and super-groovy bass, coupling sunnier pop melodies with long, interweaving instrumental sections. Unified by Killian's passionate vocals, these songs represent the band's most confident and complete self. "What I love most about listening to music is that it can trigger you emotionally or make you move," she explains. "With these songs, I wondered, 'Why can't it be both?'"
