The Home Team Drop Exhilarating Music Video for "Somebody Else's Face" Featuring Oliver Baxxter | THE NOISE

With the first anniversary of The Crucible of Life fast approaching, Seattle-based heavy-pop powerhouse The Home Team is bringing their unique sound, characterized by a fusion of heavy guitar riffs and pop melodies, to life with a new music video for their track "Somebody Else's Face." Featuring guest vocals from Broadside's Oliver Baxxter, the track explores the emotional weight of memory, longing, and the struggle of moving forward when reminders of the past linger.

Butcher, as usual, is immensely expressive while singing, which helps to emphasize the emotionality of the song while his bandmates play their instruments with tremendous passion. Butcher's vocals shine throughout the track, especially on lines like, "Everything ebbs and flows (But you know that)/ Feelings will come and go (But don't hold back)" and after, when he sings the last chorus with Baxxter. The collaboration between The Home Team and Broadside is seamless and impressive, with Butcher and Baxxter's vocals complementing each other effectively. The track's intensity is amplified by its spiteful lyricism, addressing feelings of betrayal and bitterness.

The accompanying music video, directed by longtime collaborator Sam Link, further elevates the track's infectious sound and energy. It opens with a close-up of a dilating eye, symbolizing the process of introspection and self-discovery, transitioning to a shattering mask, representing the breaking of a facade or the revelation of genuine emotions. Viewers then see a person wearing the same mask sitting on a couch while being watched by a man, played by Baxxter, outside the house, who is also being watched by Butcher. Baxxter then runs into the house, and the video cuts to a shot of him waking up to five mysterious masked figures standing over him menacingly. He continues to follow his initial target before encountering a different masked figure, which fans may recognize from the cover of The Home Team's 2021 album Slow Bloom. The video closes with Baxxter putting on the mask of the man he was initially chasing, ending on an ominous yet exhilarating note.

The Home Team will open up for Dance Gavin Dance in the spring on their Return of the Robot Tour, bringing their signature blend of heavy pop to the stage. The band will then perform at the sold-out Long Beach, CA, Warped Tour weekend in July and the Orlando, FL, Warped Tour weekend in November.
