Indie force Aaron Taos has had quite the year, and we are not even halfway through 2019 yet. In March, following a tour stint supporting King Princess, the Brooklynite recorded and released his sophomore album Birthday Boy, a pensive narrative of power dynamics and personal expectations, but a successful full-length release wasn't enough for this workhorse of an artist. On May 29, Taos released his latest single, a vibey, blissed-out track titled "Bloom."

Thematically, "Bloom" chronicles the singer's experience of clandestine infatuation. Taos elaborates,

"'Bloom' is a track about me having a crush on my friend’s sister. It’s got the whole forbidden fruit vibe where we both have feelings for each other but are unable to act on them given the context. The song is my confession about this underlying tension and making the case to this person that we should give in to our feelings.  It’s the fantasy of letting our love blossom - a natural progression like the spring flowers in bloom."

"Bloom" blends ethereal and deliberate instrumental arrangements to create a sonic cocktail that perfectly encapsulates the mix of emotions associated with Taos' experience. The track's dreamy guitar and heat-haze synth create an atmosphere of distance and confusion, reflecting the caution with which the artist considers his dilemma. On the other hand, the song's primal bass cultivates a sense of urgency and inevitability, illustrating the raw, animalistic power of infatuation that drives him to action.

With Taos' tireless work ethic and seven months of the year still to come, we can be sure to expect further news from the indie mastermind. While you are waiting for his next move, check out "Bloom" below:
