Meet bby, the Indie Group Exuding Pure, Infectious Exuberance

Sometimes, your kryptonite isn’t a vice—it’s a person. bby’s newest single “u come near” is a waving white flag, surrendering to the inability of keeping cool in their stare.

Consisting of Benjy, Jessy, Tommy, Deon, and Tom, the band bby is indie’s silent killer right now. Since they broke through one million streams with their debut single “hotline,” they’ve been setting off alarms with their melodic grunge and self-assured storytelling. Hailing from London, they’re not even a year into their inception and are already ticking off boxes many have yet to near.

You can have it all figured out until that one person tips over your equilibrium. In their own words, “u come near” speaks to a numbing kind of crush, sharing, “It’s about those people who make you all awkward and quiet whilst your head gets all kinds of loud.” Their lyrics are intentionally inclusive, as lovers could take many shapes for the eclectic band.

As each single deepens the palette of their alternative sound, there’s growing anticipation for what their first project will sound like, though it’s hard to believe we’re catching them this early. With their very first festival performance being Leeds and their debut single setting Zane Lowe ablaze on his Apple 1 show, it’s evident there’s something special here. Their excitement is felt through their wide-open eyes, and you can’t help but feel drunk with exuberance in their presence, since that’s all they’re exuding. Inviting people to crammed performances in their makeshift studio, bby makes music for all the right reasons, and that is why we cannot help but watch in awe.
