binki Returns to Defy and Exceed Expectations in "Hotel Window"

Unconcerned with impressing anyone but himself, binki continues to make his boredom the well-paved road fuel for his artistic rebellion. “Hotel Window” is snarky and angst-drenched, which is exactly what was missing from his coined bratty rock palette.

“Hotel Window” is the first we've heard from the genre-bending artist since his 2021 debut EP Motor Function, which earned him millions of streams and an unquenchable following. It’s difficult to tell if “Hotel Window” is a departure from his already established sound, or if he never had one in the first place and it was on us to attempt confining his fluid musicality.

Infatuated beyond the point of it being even remotely healthy, binki doesn’t seem to be opposed to the suffering of “Hotel Window.” Sitting at just two minutes, the track blinks past you but conveys the feeling of being defenseless against weaponized charm quite succinctly.

Reminiscent of early 2000s punk rock, time is only a checkpoint for the artist as he continues to play with periods and established sounds. Being raised by Kenyan immigrants in Pennsylvania with musically curious older siblings is the only kind of stew that could birth someone so eccentric and creatively independent, further proving that binki is one of one.

While the viral 2019 single “Heybb!” will forever be an ambitious monument to surpass, it's binki’s commitment to remaining undistracted by trends that serve as the exact reason why he will.
