Meet BRATTY, the Ethereal Spanish Voice Set to Make Her Coachella Debut

On the heels of her Es Mi Fiesta Y Si Quiero Hago Un EP release and the announcement of her first US tour, BRATTY releases the single “Radio,” further solidifying herself as a tiny yet monstrous force.

As of late, Mexico has been taking up some delicious space in the bedroom pop realm, and BRATTY is helping to infuse some very necessary pop-punk into the mix. Hailing all the way from Culiacán, Sinaloa, Jenny Juárez, better known as BRATTY is a tender songstress who sings of love, heartbreak, and all the angst folded in the middle. Her sound rings close to a young Julieta Venegas, with just as much inherent charm, albeit buoyed by a dash of young naivety. A genuine, brave-hearted artist, it’s easy to tell she’s just grateful her music is getting heard, let alone be the sonic boom it’s become.

Named one of Billboard’s “Artist to Watch in 2023,” her music has traveled beyond borders, with her Ed Maverick-assisted single “Ropa De Bazar” going four times platinum and garnering over one million monthly listeners globally on Spotify. Actively releasing music since 2018, she’s gone from recording in her bedroom to intricately produced albums with features ranging from RENEE to Cuco, but what hasn’t changed is her angelic, breathy vocals or the humility in her storytelling.

Her latest single “Radio” begs to stop being compared, finding immense disillusionment from radio’s lack of diversity. The video was an interactive experience, with BRATTY hosting an online drawing competition that gave a handful of fans a chance to be featured in the visual. There’s an intimacy with her following that deepens their loyalty to her, giving voice to the surf pop lovers who see themselves in her skin and stories.

After tweeting only a year ago “Manifesting that there will be Mexican women representing at Coachella next year,” her very first visit to the US will include her hitting that very stage, which is nothing short of a fairytale ending. But while magic is certainly on her side, this is nothing to chalk up to luck: through talent, commitment, and consistency, BRATTY has rightfully earned her accolades.
