Debbii Dawson Takes Center Stage in the Nostalgic “Happy World”

Genre-blending rising star Debbii Dawson crafts her take on beloved bops of the past in her new transcendent single, “Happy World.” The soaring ‘70s-inspired track is the first single of the year for this breakout artist, as well as her debut release after signing with RCA Records. In addition, it’s also the first tease of her upcoming EP out later this year, which will be the follow-up to last year’s debut project, Learning.

Dawson is paving her own path in an industry full of stereotypes and labels that restrict what music can be. Instead of finding a way to stay comfortably confined, the former America’s Got Talent contestant is channeling music of the past and applying it to her own modern perspective. “Happy World” takes elements of ‘70s rock and disco, evoking the spirit of the legends that came before her. For fans of historical euro-pop acts like ABBA that struggle to find a current alternative, “Happy World” is here to fill the void.

The gifted vocalist blew AGT judges away with her cover of the beloved “Dancing Queen”, which is how we eventually ended up with an original track that incorporates just the right amount of direct ABBA influence. “Happy World” commits to every aspect of what makes europop transcend generations, with its dramatic intro and fade out, deep bass line, explosive energy, and more. Anyone can try their hand at this sound, but it takes a special voice to really bring it home. Dawson’s captivating vocals represent more than just the pop genre, imbuing a subtle country twang to her delivery that adds a dynamic edge to this electric track.

Lyrically, “Happy World” also captures the spirit of why dance tracks are embraced by every generation. She sings about the ability to dance through impending doom and happiness that is controlled only by oneself. She sings, “House on fire but I’m closing the blinds” as the dance-inducing track plays on, reminding listeners that happiness is within reach as long as you make the decision to grab it.

Debbii Dawson has a busy year ahead with “Happy World” as the perfect way to soundtrack it. She will join country popstar Orville Peck to support select dates of his 'Stampede North American Tour,' driving home the Western influence in her sound and connecting with audiences who are looking to dance their fears away.
