emawk Breathes New Life Into Breezy R&B

It's the first of many new tunes to come from emawk, and what a bold re-entry onto the scene! Proving that not even the throes of a pandemic could thwart his effort, the burgeoning NYC talent takes listeners on a journey of his own self realization. The two tracks he dropped today, “Highroad” and “beads,” both drip in a rolling jazzy r&b akin to a young Masego if you will. This time around, emawk let himself relax a little in the creation process saying, "My favorite thing about both “Highroad” and “beads” is that neither one of them started off with me overthinking, and neither one of them was about spending forever looking for the right words."

“Highroad” shows off a confident emawk. It's a blissful diss track to his naysayers, after all he's chosen to take the high road. The accompanying video creates a perfect visual match to all that emawk's words embody. Around New York City, his trendy crew moves to the rhythms with an overwhelming sense of cool and confidence.

“beads” is a gentle piano driven track. You can tell there was a tremendous amount of care that went into making the instrumental. There are gorgeous twinkles and emawk's signature harmonies throughout. He told us, "While I’m proud of the lyrics and the time I took to write them, it was one of the few times where writing was mostly about the vibe, as cheesy as that might sound."
