Julia Fox's pop star era has officially begun, and it is EVERYTHING. Officially releasing her debut single "Down The Drain," which she premiered at Charli XCX's Boiler Room performance in February, the model, actress, and newly minted singer delivers a hyperpop and house-tinged single that, like her best-selling memoir of the same name, recounts her journey of becoming the singular pop cultural figure she is today.

The swirling dance-pop track feels reminiscent of witch-house artists like Crystal Castles and Mr. Kitty. She croons over the kalediscopic collage of pulsating beats and droning synths, singing, "Album and it's not a muse / The baddest fucking drug that you'll ever use / Destiny, it's yours to chose / Come with me, you'll never lose." The hypnotic chorus sees Fox chant over the mesmerizing production, "I'm a bitch, I'm a whore, I'm a woman, I'm a whore / I'm a bitch, I'm a whore, I'm a mother, I'm a whore," encouraging anyone who listens to embrace the multi-faceted aspects of feminity and screaming into the void in the most satisfyingly cathartic way.

In a press statement, Fox shared that she began writing the single when she started writing her book, and she considers the song a project in "self-reinvention." "The power to transform and become entirely new whenever you choose inspired writing this song and giving life to this idea," she adds. "In this instance, I'm embodying the persona of a pop star."

Whether or not "Down The Drain" is the start of a new career path or a one-off experiment, if there's anything still right in the world, the New York City club and the underground scene will have this bewitching track on heavy rotation all summer long.
