Kabwasa Announces His Debut Album with the Retro "You Gon See"
Vintage aesthetics paired with cutting edge flows and ideas, Kabwasa makes a statement with his single "You Gon See." Hailing from Watsonville, California, Kabwasa takes influence from artists such as Anderson .Paak, A$AP Rocky, and Joey Bada$$, but adds his own personality to give these sounds new perspective.
For those unfamiliar, Kabwasa's past singles "Light" and "Boardwalk" are strong introductions to the versatile artist. "Light" shows a neo-soul side of Kabwasa with stripped back guitar production. Contrastingly, "Boardwalk" is summery and upbeat with a captivating hook and flow. Kabwasa's recent track "In My Head," merges these two elements seamlessly with neo-soul elements as well as a summery and bright disposition.
"You Gon See" features a throwback sample-heavy instrumental and Kabwasa experimenting with a growling pitched down chorus. Kabwasa's ability to switch between so many flows effortlessly make this a standout moment in the new artist's growing catalogue. The second half of the track has Kabwasa relentlessly rapping with a fast flow before returning back to the groovy and earworm hook.
The music video for "You Gon See" shot by Sho has a retro feeling to it and a grainy quality to the shot which mirrors the old school sound of the track.
Kabwasa continues to prove himself as an inventive and unique artist that isn't afraid to be himself. The versatility, creative eye, and strong technical ability make Kabwasa an artist to look out for as he gears up for his first full length debut project.
