Michi Finds Solace on "Escondida"

Quarantine has forced everyone to spend an uncomfortable amount of time alone. During this unprecedented wave of self-isolation and the distractions of normal life being stripped away, many of us have had to re-learn who we are and find comfort in solitude.

Documenting her own self-discovery journey, Michi crafted a masterpiece that celebrates isolation. Lockdown provided a unique opportunity for the singer to fall in love with herself and with spending time alone. Her latest singe, "Escondida," explores the challenging process of finding happiness without any outside influences. In describing the song, she says,

"The value of solitude, even outside these testing times of quarantine, are what pushed me to bring ‘Escondida’ out of hiding. I’ve always leaned on the company of others to fill a void or distract myself, but it wasn’t until these last two years and the start of my project that I felt connected to being alone, even if with my thoughts, regrets, memories both good and bad. 'Escondida’ is my love song to the haven I’ve found in mentally and emotionally being alone."

"Escondida" is hypnotic with Michi's vocals blending seamlessly into the rest of the track. The lyrics transition effortlessly between English and Spanish, the switch going almost unnoticed. Between her soothing vocals, the rich bass line, and subtle electronic influence, "Escondida" is the perfect song to put on to tune the rest of the world out.
