As summer slowly comes to a close and we brace ourselves for the post-Labor Day return to normalcy, it's tempting to fall into an end of summer slump. However, with its breezy laid-back sound and sensual appeal, "Ride," the latest single from Nashville's MILKK, proves to be the perfect cure for our August blues.  

Premiering exclusively on Ones To Watch alongside a VHS inspired lyric video that finds Frontman Pat Kiloran coasting via scooter, "Ride" is a feel-good earworm easily suited for poolside get-togethers as well as dance floor celebrations. The track's euphoric hook, paired with its more tropically-driven R&B groove, makes "Ride" extremely addictive as you never want the lush soundscape, and by extension the feeling of summer, to end.  

In fact, it was this sentiment that drove Kiloran to write "Ride," as he shared,

"I wanted to write a song that felt like summer... I've written so many introspective, self-depricating, depressed songs the last couple years, that coming into the summer of 2019, I needed to do something new for me. I have synesthesia, so I wanted to write an 'orange' song. A song for driving with someone in the sunset; a song for laying out by the pool... It's just about being with the person you need the most."

This feeling, this vibe of "orange" and summer is immediately felt throughout this standout track. Images of palm trees and sunsets flood the mind; it makes you want to enjoy the warmth of the season as well as the warmth of lover sitting beside you in the passenger seat as you cruise down the coast. The dreamy summertime essential follows previous single "All To Myself" in being the first pieces of new material since the band's debut album, HEADRUSH, which was released earlier this year. Both of the new tracks have found MILKK taking more creative risks, with the trap inspired "All To Myself" being the first to mark that change for the band. "I think this new music really reflects our personal tastes as well as an even more driven pursuit of excellence in the craft. But it also reflects a willingness to be spontaneous and wholly chase the feeling of a song, no matter how complex or simple," Kiloran said.

MILKK, comprised of Kiloran alongside Minneapolis engineer/musician Jack Vondrachek, and drummer John Ogelby, has no plans of slowing down after an already momentous 2019. With a tour on the way and more music in the works, the sky is the limit for this genre-defying trio. "Ultimately, the more people that let us into their heads and let our songs become a part of their lives, the better. No ceiling mentality. We'll just keep moving" – there you have it.
