Momma Announce New Album With Gut-Spilling Single "I Want You (Fever)"

Got a fever? Well, Brooklyn four-piece Momma, comprised of singer-songwriter and guitarist Etta Friedman, singer-songwriter and guitarist Allegra Weingarten, producer and bassist Aron Kobayashi Ritch, and drummer Preston Fulks, has just the thing for you. The band's new single, "I Want You (Fever)," is a vibrant ode to the exhilaration of a summer fling, brought to life by its gritty instrumentation and invigorating production.

The single overflows with yearning yet shines with a '90s-throwback indie aesthetic, reminiscent of the raw, unpolished sound popularized by bands like Pavement, Veruca Salt, and Sonic Youth, featuring catchy, double-vocal leads and slacker guitar lines. This crunchy, reckless guitar gives the song just enough bite, as Friedman and Weingarten's saccharine vocals serenade lines like, "Take it apart and build it again / Don't call it a loss, call me instead / Really can't believe you didn't tell her / Do you think she knows we're back together?" This charming and infectious energy bleeds over into the hook where the pair repeat the line, "Pick up and leave her/ I want you, fever," wrestling with their tense, unresolved feelings and pining for closure.

"'I Want You (Fever)' is a song we wrote about wanting to be with someone who has a girlfriend, or someone who isn't over their ex," explains the band. "It's pining after someone, but there's also some confidence knowing that that person wants to be with you. The second we wrote that song, we felt like we were entering a new era - we scrapped everything we had written for the album up to that point because it felt so fresh and so exciting."

The accompanying music video, directed by Jaxon Whittington, matches the visceral aura of the song, opening on a shot of the band gearing up to perform in the middle of the desert. Colorful flashes of the band sneaking into a house and performing in the living room, as well as whimsical black-and-white footage.

The single will feature on the band's upcoming album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, out April 4. The band has also been announced as part of the lineups for this year's Outbreak Festival and Primavera Sound, and a full US tour for Welcome To My Blue Sky has been confirmed. Late last year, the band provided the first official taste of the album with the release of "Ohio All The Time," which laid the foundation of what is sure to be an exceptional 2025 for the band.
