Ones To Catch: Hinterland 2026

As Iowa’s most popular music festival enters its eleventh year, Hinterland announces the addition of not only a permanent stage in the process of being built on St. Charles’ rolling hills, but has expanded the festival from three to four days of music featuring some of the most popular and up-and-coming artists. From July 30th, 2026 through August 2, 2026, artists like Katseye (Thursday), Lorde (Friday), Mumford & Sons (Saturday), and Kali Uchis (Sunday) are set to headline the midwest countryside of around 400 acres featuring music, camping, parking and more for festival goers to enjoy.
While we are more than excited to catch these incredible artist Hinterland named as their 2026 headliners, we feel there are some smaller artists you are definitely not going to want to miss:
Geese
Named one of our artists to watch in 2026 and listed as #2 in our best albums of 2025 for their third LP, Getting Killed, Geese has been moving closer and closer to becoming a household name. Coming from New York, it’s no surprise that Geese already has the cool kid, avant-garde aesthetic that thrives so well in the rock ‘n’ roll music scene. We definitely expect to see a good amount of moshing and crowd surfing during their Sunday afternoon set.
Jane Remover
Jane Remover has been a common name at OnesToWatch since 2023. Often noted as “explosive”, their catalog of music continues to push the boundaries of genre labels, always ready to provide us with something new and never heard before. Jane Remover is a must see at Governors Ball as well, bringing a new EP to the stage. We are excited to see how their performances continue to evolve and festival season continues.
Audrey Hobert
2025 was the YEAR of Audrey Hobert. A 27-year old rising star still riding the high of her debut album, and iconic cover art, Who’s the Clown?, Hobert is still full of surprises to come. Songwriting wasn’t the original plan for her, but her newly unlocked talents continue to provide to the indie pop lovers with hit after hit.
Julia Wolf
Julia Wolf first came into the forefront in Spotify’s Fresh Finds Inaugural Class of 2021. Since then, Wolf has created a discography of pop tracks that allow listeners to feel as though they are following the secrets and stories of a dear friend. Wolf is Twilight-obsessed, a former Tumblr girlie, and seems to be as chronically online as the rest of us. She truly is just like us and we can’t wait to see her on her run of festival runs, opening slots, and a headlining tour later this year.
Samia
We don’t believe it is possible to ever have too much Samia. Since 2019, OnesToWatch has been following the artistry of the alt-rock Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter. Her latest album, Bloodless, made our best albums list of 2025 for good reason. Samia isn’t afraid to dig deep and tug at your heart strings, but makes sure to wrap it up with a comforting bow - even if you’re sobbing at the end. Samia’s sets never disappoint and we are so excited to see what she has planned for her Hinterland set.
Frost Children
Frost Children made their OnesToWatch debut as one of our artists to watch in 2023. Since then, their releases have been high energy, futuristic, and bend the genre of hyperpop as we know it. This sibling duo is booked and busy this summer, but only hold a handful of North American shows. We are excited to have the opportunity to catch them in the Iowa countryside and know they’ll create a set that will be talked about for festival seasons to come.
Haute & Freddy
Haute & Freddy are a considerably newer artist compared to their Hinterland counterparts. With only a handful of singles in 2024 and 2025, they started off 2026 with the release of their debut album, Big Disgrace. Despite their newfound stardom, Haute & Freddy should not be ignored. They set the stage of 80s-inspired synth-pop, dressed in a vintage circus aesthetic. Haute & Freddy are fresh, fun, and a performance definitely worth catching on Hinterland 2026’s final day.
Nourished by Time
One of the few artists to have the honor of gracing Hinterland’s Campfire stage in Nourished by Time. With his latest release, The Passionate Ones, making our 2025 best albums list, this Baltimore-born singer, songwriter and producer brings a mix of punk, New Wave, R&B, and indie pop together for an experimental set on the late night stage. In regards to the new release, Nourished by Time shared that it is an album for “anyone with a dream”. So, before you rest your head on Hinterland Day 1, dream on with his Campfire set.
Ninajirachi
The pop genre continues to be dominated by the best of the best and Ninajirachi continues to showcase the fun and feminine nature of the genre. Another artist to catch on the Campfire stage, Ninajirachi puts on a DJ set like no other. The energy is there, of course, but the connection she has with her fanbase is unmatched to any other EDM artist currently. If you haven’t heard of Ninajirachi, you’ve definitely heard one of her tracks (“iPod Touch” or “Fuck My Computer” have definitely been blasted in a loud, overcrowded club). As a Hinterland veteran, the Campfire stage can feel like a trek but knowing the energy Ninajirachi puts into her sets will make every step worth it.
Saint Avangeline
Saint Avangeline opens the second day of the festival and is worth the run to barricade, trust. OnesToWatch chatted with the Florida-born artist in late 2025 to discuss her latest single “Rain Dance”. Since then, Saint Avangeline has released two singles, “The Heart That Ate Itself” and “a girl’s about to lose her mind”. As of writing this piece, her only in-person show for 2026 is Hinterland. We hope there is more to come, but you do not want to miss this one!
