Buckle up for the emotional rollercoaster that is Soccer Mommy's latest album Sometimes, Forever Sometimes, Forever. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter is treating listeners to her third full-length album, and I can guarantee there is a track for everyone in this treasure trove of honesty, vulnerability, and fantastic musicianship.

Produced by Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never), Sometimes, Forever opens with "Bones," a revealing song accompanied by a moody, low-lit music video directed by Alex Ross Perry. As a first introduction to the album, Soccer Mommy hints at prevailing themes of unrequited love, complicated relationships, and the resulting self-doubt birthed from these experiences. First singing of what seems to be a mutually fading relationship, the artist suddenly turns in on herself, exclaiming "I wanna scream when you don’t look at me like you did / Oh back then / I wanna know what's wrong / With all of the ways I am / Trying to be someone / That you could love and understand, but I know that I’m not." Underscored by a soft rock band and layered vocals, Soccer Mommy sets a tone of self-reflection and sadness, but for listeners, there is inherent reliability to be found in the struggles that accompany love and the aftermath of its loss.

Switching gears, another single release, "Shotgun," arrives as an upbeat, ethereal track, detailing the story of a completely captivating experience shared with someone else. The chorus hums “Whenever you want me I'll be around / I'm a bullet in a shotgun waiting to sound / Whenever you want me I'll be around / I'm a bullet in a shotgun waiting to sound / Oh, yeah,” showing her true devotion and admiration for this explosive love. While staying true to her sound, the entire mood shifts and compels listeners to view each song as a snippet into the inevitable ups and downs of life told through the lens of Sometimes, Forever

There is so much more to be discovered in this album, and each listener will find a line of relatability or a melody that hits home in tracks that cover the full gamut of the emotional spectrum and heart-wrenching situations. With Sometimes, Forever, Soccer Mommy has once again shown her ingenuity in the alt-rock space by sharing her authentic stories and distinctive sound.
