Talker Fails to Be "Easygoing" in Captivating New Single | THE NOISE

Los Angeles indie singer-songwriter talker, aka Celeste Taucher, unveils a mesmerizing, instant masterpiece in her latest track, "Easygoing." Co-written with Jake Finch and Collin Pastore, the larger-than-life pop ballad takes the artist's vulnerability to new heights.

Throughout the verses, talker paints a picture of being unable to be securely attached in a relationship and tries her best to be "chill" despite it going against her nature. With instrumentation taking cues from modern indie-rock and grunge, talker's passion and grit shine in her vocal delivery, creating a raw, cathartic, heavy-hitting effort filled with sincerity and vulnerability. On the heartbreaking chorus, she belts, "I wish I could be easygoing/ But that's just not me/ At least I know it/ I'll wear you out til' you get holes in your sleeves."

"This is my personal favorite song I've ever written and one of the scariest to release," Celeste says. I tried for so long to fit myself into the comfort zones of other people, to make dynamics work that maybe just weren't for me. People-pleasing and not asking for what I needed. I wish I could say this song was written from a place of 'I don't care what you think of me,' but in reality, it came from a really insecure place where I felt like because I actually, you know, have needs, I was destined to push people away and be too much."

As it turns out, writing "Easygoing" was exactly what Tauchar had spent years trying to figure out and has led to a newfound self-acceptance. She continues: "I'm okay with being a lot. I'm okay with asking for what I need. And I won't make myself smaller... most days."

The accompanying music video, written, directed, and produced by Tauchar, is a slow descent into madness that viewers can't help but continue to watch. As talker gets ready for a picnic with her wholesome date, she succumbes to her obsessive tendencies and bloodies her hand after punching a mirror. After she arrives, she falls victim to her inner unhinged delusion and Carrie-inspired chaos ensuing, contrasting the catchy, pop-infused tune.

With no stone left unturned, the release of "easygoing" is the energetic kickoff to a moment she's been building to the whole time––talker's long-awaited debut full-length, coming spring/summer 2024. (edited)
