Talker Gets Punk'd By Life In New Single "TWENTYSOMETHING" | THE NOISE

LA-based pop-rock project talker, led by Celeste Tauchar, grapples with the grind of growing up on her latest single, "TWENTYSOMETHING." The fired-up anthem serves as commentary for the specific brand of despair felt in your twenties when you get kicked off of your parents's health insurance, deal with financial turmoil, and ultimately come to terms with the fact that your life hasn't entirely played out the way you thought it would.

The single opens with raging, pop-punk-influenced instrumentals as the singer croons reality-biting lyrics like "It's the beginning of the end" and "Just turned twenty-six, and/ I lost my insurance/ And my therapist is too expensive." The first chorus seethes with boiling angst, with talker singing, "I thought the whole point of misery/ Was to get a little company/ So if you're not listening/ Then you're no good to me!" before returning to a bashing arrangement of mosh worthy percussion and face-melting guitar and bass lines.

"This song is me giving myself permission to be frustrated, to say 'what the fuck,' and to kick something," explains Tauchar. "I know that I'll still have to pay off my credit card and open a high-yield savings account, but in this moment, if I can get people to sing out their rage with me, that's all I need." She adds, "This song is a reminder that everyone goes through the pains of growing up, and the world is an absolutely insane place to exist. We can all help each other navigate it, but we can also validate each other's less evolved grievances and just yell at the world for 2 minutes and 27 seconds."

The accompanying music video, directed by Sylvie Krekow, follows Tauchar on a shenanigan-filled night out. Arriving at the bar and downing a mysterious drink, the night turns topsy-turvey after she vomits glitter in the sink. Dreamy and distorted scenes of bar patrons breaking bottles and making a mess as the singer heads out with her friends, eventually sneaking into someone's backyard and jumping into the pool with her besties.

The release of "TWENTYSOMETHING" is the energetic kickoff to a moment she's been building to the whole time, talker's long-awaited debut full-length, coming spring/summer 2024.
