The Hellp Yearn For Home in Latest Single "Colorado"


Experimental electronic duo The Hellp, comprised of vocalist Noah Dillion and producer and composer Chandler Lucy, return with their latest single, "Colorado." According to the artists, the track is "a song about going home" and is a testament to their passionate storytelling within the electroclash genre, exuding a fuzzy warmth and embracing their tongue-in-cheek indie sleaze aesthetic.

"Colorado" opens with Dillion's raspy vocals, setting the scene amid a collection of subtle pulsing synths and warm guitar riffs. He teases the pre-chorus over the nostalgic yet novel production, crooning, "The sky is looking Colorado, but I am covered in gray / And I was thinkin' 'bout a lover, but I couldn't get her to stay."

As the single progresses, a blend of melancholia and momentum wash over the listener, wrapping them in the textural, lush production as the duo echoes themes of longing and introspection against vivid imagery. Dillion and Lucy's reflective lyrics add depth to the song, making it a compelling addition to The Hellp's repertoire. 

The accompanying music video, directed by Dillion himself, is a thrill ride from start to finish. The dynamic, cinematic visual opens with footage of wild horses galloping through the Colorado wilderness. Solar flares bob and weave in and out of frame throughout the stunning nature scenes. Meanwhile, stylized scenes of Dillion performing the single alone in a void of a room are interspersed throughout the video, juxtaposing the beautiful, organic nature of the horses running wild and free with glossy yet grungy clips of an artist isolated from the world at large.
