Governors Ball 2022: 10 Acts Not to Miss

The Governors Ball Music Festival is nearly upon us. Since 2011, the iconic festival has become a popular way to celebrate the start of summer, featuring lineups specially curated to showcase some of the best of the best, from fan favorites to rising stars. 2022's festival allows fans of all ages to spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. And if you’re lucky enough to be going to Gov Ball this year, these are 10 undercard acts you will not want to miss.

Peach Tree Rascals

Bay area music collective Peach Tree Rascals are bringing their genre-bending, euphoric and infectious brand of sunny indie-pop to Gov Ball's GoPuff Stage on Saturday, June 11. The collective's passion for creating whimsical yet profound sonic experiences continues in their most recent singles, "Good Advice" and "Song From Hell." Both are sonically reminiscent of listless summer days and wistful evenings spent with friends, making them the perfect act to catch this weekend.

BETWEEN FRIENDS

Alt-pop duo BETWEEN FRIENDS are performing their first-ever live show Friday, June 10 on Gov Ball's Bacardi Stage! The pair, comprised of brother and sister duo Brandon and Savannah Hudson, have been putting out a string of dreamy and colorful singles ahead of their upcoming EP cutie, enticing listeners to stay hooked on the sonic fantasies they've created thus far. Fans of the newcomers should be stoked to see these rising stars finally hit the stage and bring their songs to life in a live setting.

Still Woozy

Still Woozy, aka Sven Gamsky, transcends genres with electrifying pop, soul, and funk influences. After releasing his debut album If This Isn't Nice, I Don't Know What Is, which he took on a completely sold-out tour this past winter, the Gov Ball alum has moved up in the lineup this year, landing a Saturday evening spot on the main stage. The indie, left-field pop act set is a must-see for anyone looking for an energizing, dance-inducing pick-me-up this festival weekend.

Del Water Gap

S. Holden Jaffe, the man behind the Del Water Gap, may be a mystery to most mainstream music listeners, but you may know more than you think. Though he recently released his self-titled debut album, fans, including actors like Margaret Qualley and Kaitlyn Dever, have been dancing to songs like "Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat" for nearly two years. Not to mention, he's featured on former NYU classmate Maggie Rogers' recently released compilation album, Notes from the Archive: Recordings 2011-2016, on "New Song" and "(Does It Feel Slow?)." So do yourself a favor and catch his set Sunday on the Bacardi Stage. You won't regret it!

Valley

Ahead of their upcoming tour and sure to be spectacular set at Gov Ball, the JUNO Award-Nominated alternative-pop band Valley just dropped their optimistic single "CHAMPAGNE." This special release celebrates the sole female vocalist and drummer Karah James, who steps out from behind her drum kit and into the spotlight as lead vocals on "CHAMPAGNE," a moment fans had been waiting for. The single follows an invigorating drumbeat with the familiar sparkling synth hooks, crisp guitar licks, and lyrics that inspire a hopeful outlook.

Channel Tres

If you haven't heard of Channel Tres, you are missing out. The Compton artist has RANGE, drawing inspiration from techno, funk, and rap to produce everything from rap-heavy hits like "Weedman" to club bangers like "Topdown." He's teamed up with many remarkable musicians, such as Tyler, the Creator, Tinashe, Disclosure, Emotional Oranges, TOKiMONSTA, and more! He's sure to shine even brighter if his Friday set is anything like his last string of standout festival performances thus far.

beabadoobee

Indie singer-songwriter beabadoobee has been on a stratospheric rise. Ahead of the release of her next album Beatopia, set to release July 15, the bedroom pop artist has been traversing the country opening for Halsey's arena tour and releasing a series of instantly addictive singles like "Lovesong" and "Talk." beabadoobee will be blessing Gov Ball's Main Stage with her presence on Friday, giving fans a sneak peek into more unreleased music from the upcoming album (hopefully) and more!

Ashnikko

Ashnikko is a force to reckoned with. Her unapologetically authentic music is explosive, bold, and has certainly come a long way since her breakout TikTok moment spurred forth by the viral success of the Yung Baby Tate-assisted "Stupid." The viral track and ensuing idiosyncratic of the bombshell rapper landed Ashnikko on the radars of successful artists such as Danny Brown and Doja Cat. She'll be closing out the Bacardi Stage on Saturday, the perfect precursor to her upcoming tour in the fall!

DE'WAYNE

DE'WAYNE is an artist who has taken risks his whole life and is now putting that energy into the music he creates. The alt-singer/rapper redefines music by showcasing his raw and tasteful blend of genres, using rock, industrial, and rap elements to create something wholly unique and out of the box. The Houston native continues to take risks and be incredibly fierce in their recent releases, especially in his latest singles, the POORSTACY-assisted "DIE OUT HERE" and "GOOD MOOD," featuring grandson. The Houston native will be giving fans a show to remember this Sunday, June 12, on Gov Ball's GoPuff Stage.

Coi Leray

With raw rhymes, traffic-stopping vocals, and matchless energy, Coi Leray carves out a lane of her own as a dynamic, dangerous, and distinct kind of pop star. The New Jersey-born and LA-based rapper, singer, and all-around badass first left her mark on the music industry with her stellar 2018 independent breakout mixtape, Everythingcoz. Since then, she's continued to blaze a trail for herself, collaborating with everyone from Nicki Minaj to H.E.R. on her latest album, Trendsetter. Leray refuses to be creatively confined and is a must-see when she takes Gov Ball's Bacardi Stage on Saturday.
