Let Izora's 'Vertigo' EP Pull You Into A Blissfully Disorienting Spiral [Q&A]
Vertigo is a new normal to most; we are battered between anxieties and dilemmas so commonly, that feeling unsteady is everyday living. If you want change – foundational change that doesn’t erode with gaslighting and counterfeit behaviors – then newcomer Izora on her EP Vertigo will give you the sonic equilibrium you need. With tidy production, soulful, shifting into sultry vocals, and a dark rhythmic spine, the EP is a true mirror of our best & worst tendencies, resolving with melodic truth. Wanting to know more about this dizzying EP, we caught Izora in office to jump some queries in her lap:
OnesToWatch: Who is Izora?
Izora: I am Izora, a singer-songwriter originally from India, now based in LA, blending intimate storytelling with cinematic, alt-pop production. I’m all about emotion-forward music that makes you feel something, whether it’s joy, heartbreak, nostalgia, or pure chaos. I’ve been writing songs since I was a teenager, and I haven’t stopped since.
What is Vertigo all about?
Vertigo is that disorienting feeling of feeling emotionally off balance. It’s about craving stability but constantly getting pulled into emotional extremes. Each track dives into a different moment of that spiraling, from obsession to letting go and how intoxicating that cycle can be.
Any collaborations or features? Who produced the album?
Yes! I made this EP with my best friends and producers, Zion Jeng and Blanco Leal. We’ve built this sonic world together that really reflects where I’m at as an artist right now. There are no features on Vertigo, but it still feels collaborative because of the energy and trust that went into making it.
What drives you, both good and bad?
On the good side, connection. Nothing beats the feeling of someone telling me my song said what they couldn’t. On the bad side, probably a bit of perfectionism and this constant hunger to prove myself. It can push me to level up, but I’m learning not to let it eat me alive.
How would you describe your sound?
It’s alt-pop with cinematic drama and raw emotion like if Billie Eilish, Lorde, and BANKS had a love child who cried glitter and screamed into a synth. I love contrasts: softness with distortion, vulnerability with power.
If the future becomes reality, what does that look like?
Arena tours. A global fanbase that feels like family. And me making music I love, staying rooted in who I am, but always evolving. Also, buying my mom a house and my dad his dream car that’s the real dream.
Besides this excellent EP, what else should we be on the lookout for?
I’ve got music videos, acoustic versions, and a live session in the works. I’m also planning a few shows this year, I really want to bring Vertigo to the stage in a way that feels immersive and emotional.
What’s inspiring you right now outside of music?
Honestly, film and fashion. I’m obsessed with visual storytelling and I’ve been experimenting more with my personal style as a way to express different parts of myself. It’s all connected.
Best South Asian dish and why?
Butter chicken with garlic naan! no question. It’s comfort food to me, rich and flavorful, and reminds me of home. Also, if I’m not licking my fingers after eating it, did I even eat it?
Musically, who is new but making all the right moves? Who are your current OnesToWatch?
I’m really into Raye right now, her voice, her writing, her independence… it’s all fire. Also love what Niko Rubio is doing she just has a way with words and her music just brings me so much peace. They’re all killing it.
