For marcos g, music was a distant dream. It was something he loved but never something he thought he could pursue. Something that creative just wasn't an option. So instead, for years, marcos resided in Florida. He put a ton of time into his studies and became a teacher, stating, "I was so busy running from my teaching job to get to classes and then to do homework, I barely had any time to focus on music."

marcos had just one outlet. The single way he connected with music was by playing piano at his local church leadership. Somewhat hidden behind the massive organ, marcos sat scoring the songs his friends sang. Well, until a day when the group's lead vocalist couldn't make it. marcos decided he would step up and fill in. And when he did, his peers only wished he would have done it sooner, "My team was like what? We didn't know you could sing like that - you're never going back to the piano, haha!"

Shortly after, his friends pressed him to make his very first EP, STUPIDSONGSFORTHESUMMER. marcos uploaded the project to Soundcloud, thinking his voice over some YouTube beats would just be for him and his friends. But tastemakers know how to sniff out talent.

Soon HillyDilly, Lyrical Lemonade, and Fashionably Early brought marcos' single "single (on the weekend)" to the forefront. marcos was shocked by the attention saying, "It was so crazy to me that people were finding it and liking it and DMing me about it." But the laid back indie R&B track had a great little bounce to it and cheeky lyrics to match. The lyrics just came to him while he was sitting in traffic on his way to record a totally different song. His mind is always running with ideas.

When marcos finally decided to make the leap into making his own music, he had to create his own sound. To do that, he leaned on his Floridian roots. In his hometown, he was surrounded by Bachata and Salsa. Still, he had to find a way for his own love for new hip-hop sounds and classic R&B to come through. You can hear the way he's chosen to amplify hip-hop beats and weave together rhythmically Latin-leaning themes in songs like "stay" and "Dancefloor."

Having only started music two years ago, 2019 was crucial to marcos' musical development. This year we saw the up-and-coming talent release four singles, all a strong effort on his behalf. He plans on stepping up his game even further in 2020 with the release of a bountiful indie R&B EP.
